Taking a break...

My 5th grade teacher once said that I had a knack at poetry. (Well, I think it was my 5th grade teacher...). Then again, I used to skip class all the time in elementary school, so what the hell do I know?

Hmm... let's see if I still got it in me.

Ode to the Joys of Being a Worthless Student on a Weekend, With Nothing Better to Do
My brain,
It has an aneurysm.
My life,
It sucks.
My poetry,
It sucks too.
You said I would amount to nothing in life,
Hey, whattdoya know? You were right.
This stupid poem doesn't even rhyme,
But who cares, it isn't going to get marked.
Screw this,
Let's go play Solitaire.

Hmm...ok...maybe another one.

Transmissions of a Scary Alien
People of Earth.
My name is Klog.
I come from Planet Klozia,
Of the Epsilon Reticulum system.
Stop laughing! It's a real system name--
And it's supposed to sound scary, worthless human!
We have come to eat your population with ketchup.
And relish.
And extra onions.
And some pan fried mushrooms.
Hold the mayo though,
I'm trying to cut the calories.
So I have to restrict myself,
To half of a fatty American,
Or two 3rd world kids,
Which are much too dry.
I will land my spaceship shortly.
Deliver within' 30 minutes,
Or else...
I won't tip.
Transmission out.

One last one...

I'm Standing in the Unemployment Line
If I could rhyme,
I could charge a dime,
To song writers,
Who need rhyming...d'oh!

Ok, so if you thought my poetry was good, you seriously should get your head examined. In the meantime, you can also take a look at Rodina Kazawalaski's site for more great poetry such as:

"untitled poem about the enduring hellish pain of a white teenage upper-middle class girl going to school in a well-to-do area with a relatively low crime rate
I have nothing.
No wait, I have it all. when’s dinner?"

I particularly like the "Take that Mrs. Crabtree" one. Check it out.

Late Night Thoughts: Confessions of a Square...

30 minutes past midnight. On a Wednesday night (going into Thursday). Roughly fouth week back to school. At least a month away from any midterms.

Where am I? At school. Yeah that's right, I'm busting my ass studying. Are there any other geeks at school, besides me?

Nope. Just me.

I guess I'm the biggest geek....oh wait, I hear someone.

Nope. It's just the maintenance crew vacuuming down the corridor.

Argh! My life sucks. Please, would someone put me out of my misery?

Hmmm...that vacuuming is really getting annoying. Ahhh...screw this. My brain is all mushy and tarty. Stick a fork into me. I'm done. Time to go home...

Aiyeee.....

Whew!

Lots of stuff going on in the past couple weeks: the WTC tragedy (well I don't think I want to dwell on it any longer); classes; readings for said classes; prep for presentations; looking at sample LSATs; reading about law schools; starting to fill out applications; writing e-mails and just generally deciding what I really want to do with my life. I've got quite a few things on my to-do list...

With the start of school, I've been running around like a naive first year (you know what I mean right? All those keener first years are running around in the first semester so that they can get to class on time. The third and fourth year students are so jaded/apathetic, you never see them run--they only walk). This will be my last semester, so I've been running up and down to the admin offices to make sure that I'm graduating, and all the associated paperwork is going smoothly. I certainly don't want to be told a few months down the line that I can't graduate because I missed filling out a form or something like that.

While speeding around the admin section I bumped into several profs that I've taken courses with. They all recognized me...a sure sign that I've been at this school too long. Time to move on, I guess. It just feels weird to say that I'm actually graduating. I'm graduating. I'm graduating. I'm graduating.

Nope still sounds weird.

Although, it's not like I'm taking the whole actual graduation process seriously. I don't plan on going to the graduation ceremony (although my parents will probably have other thoughts about this). I'm hoping to be travelling to some foreign country, by the time the graduation ceremony is held in June 2002. For all I care, my school can just send me the diploma through the mail with insufficient postage attached.

Actually, I've given some thought whether I should delay my graduation for a few months so I can go on an exchange to Yonsei University or Seoul National University. On the one hand, an exchange to Korea would give me lots of time to meet and visit all my friends in Korea, but on the other hand I gotta question the educational and practical value of studying and living in Seoul for another 4 months. I really do miss my friends and relatives in Korea, but that would be the only reasons I would want to go visit Korea again. Well maybe for the food....and perhaps for the hottchicks™...and perhaps for the culture....awww shucks, I really DO miss my Korea... But even still, I've always wanted to travel to China. (You've heard me complain about the lack of money, etc.) That idea of stowing away onboard a shipping container is starting to get better and better. *Sigh*

Anyway I've just thinking about all my options... In the end I'll probably just flip a coin.

Ah...my photo shoot with Lisa Ha went well (quarter of the contact sheet is shown here). Client seems satisfied--and that's what counts, I guess. I'm getting the lab to finish up with the enlargements. I'll post the final scans in a couple of weeks.

In the meanwhile, keep safe and cool, gentle reader...

Shock, terror and devestation...

September 11th. The most inconceivable and evil of acts has occured today.

This tragedy poses as a threat and challenge, to the very principles that the democratic free world hold dear. We MUST be strong and be sure that we are NOT blinded by anger, hate or the want of hasty retribution.

My heart and prayers go out to those families and victims struck by this horrific tragedy as well as the thousands of volunteers, rescue personal, and hospital staff that are currently working to deal with the confusion and chaos.

In the next few weeks and months, the consequences and signficance of this tragedy will become much more clear. Undoubtedly, we shall see that this tragedy will have a huge impact on the concepts of international relations, global security and fanaticism. Clearly, this event that will forever change the definition of war and terrorism. It is truly a momentous day in history--and truly a sad day for all.

Family members wanting to search for survivors, or individuals with information of survivors are asked to go to the following website to update the online survivor's database.

May God help us all at this time of need...

FOR SALE: (1) Human Being. Comes with orignal packaging.

The other day I came across a silly site called Human For Sale. Basically, it's a simple questionaire (age, sex, height, IQ, education, etc) that you fill out to calculate your value/worth.

On the webpage it says it: "will attempt to place a value on your life using a variety of criteria in 4 basic facets of life (physical, mental, lifestyle, personality)".

Who says you can't put a value on a life?

Now we all know it's really a bunch of horse manure. The site doesn't even specify how it calculates the worth...but it's all fun and games anyway.

So I filled it out. Turns out I'm worth "exactly" $2,301,974.

Uhhh...

Whoa...wait a sec. Hmm. A thought occurs.

Considering that they sell almost anything on E-bay these days, I should list myself.

Effective immediately. I, David Chun, am up for sale to the highest bidder. Recently appraised at over $2.3 million. One of a kind. Possible collector's item. Comes with certificate of authenticity and all original packaging. Barely used. Can function as house pet or universal remote. House trained. Bonus: unit comes with 2 functioning kidneys worth approximately $2500 (each) on black market. Too many extras to list here. Starting bid: $1.

Any takers?
