Gee...thanks!

I had a bit of a party/get-together at my place several weeks ago. And I was out with some friends the other night and one of them said one of the best compliments I've heard for some time: "Man...we were thinking of how fun your party was. We didn't have a drop of alcohol that night...but out of the top three parties of all time...I don't even know what the other two would be...but your party would definately be in the top three. And that includes the drunk ones!"

The little party hosting girl inside of me is shedding a tear of joy.

Hmmm. Me thinks it's probably only ranked in my friend's top three because she can actually remember my party sans alcohol. Either that or my friend really needs to get out more often.

Sure...fly up to Vancouver and I'll throw you a party. :)

As for the menu that night? Yah we had some pretty good eats. Kinda went all out actually...but everyone had fun cooking together, which was good. Menu started with afternoon tea. Cucumber finger sandwiches with lemon zest butter and warmed scones topped with freshly whipped cream and berries. Tea was Murchie's blend Empress Tea (mild blended black tea). Dinner was an Italian theme. Started with freshly baked focaccia with the usual balsamic and olive oil dipping sauce. This was followed by bruschetta with basil and tomatoes on toasted fresh Italian bread. We had several entree choices: vegetarian spinach manicotti (see the spinach and ricotta stuffed pasta shell recipe), PEI mussels in a white wine and tomato sauce, country-style meatballs (made with bread soaked in buttermilk so the meatballs were really moist and juicy) and handmade thin crust pizza (the dough recipe wasn't that great unfortunately). Hmmm...I think that was it...well that's all I remember anyway. Everybody was too full for dessert so we didn't actually get around to baking anything. We had enough leftovers so that everyone got something to take home though, which was nice. Oh yah I guess you could say some of us had freshly squeezed lemonade for dessert.
